January 1,2009

Something big happened on saturday and tuesday. On saturday we received our transfer calls from President Clark. And remember he called you and said something about "more's coming my way". Well President told me that I would be training a brand new missionary. I never thought I would be training, and if I did it would be later on. Their are other missionaries that have been out longer than I have. But I know how to take care of an area so I guess I won't ruin the new missionary too much. Elder Jacabson was transfered to Spokane Valley. He will be killing another missionary, or in other words his companion is going home because his 2 years are up. I liked Elder Jacobson, he is a good missionary. He didn't like to clean but we found time to have fun. We both learned alot from each other and became better. On tuesday morning I went to Spokane to pick-up my new companion. We met with President Clark and had a meeting. Then we went to another room and met the new missionaries. My companions name is Elder Oliver, he is from Bolivia. He was born and raised their and then moved to Salt Lake City. Their he learned english. So he knows spanish and english. He has a good sense of humor. Everyone in his family are members. He is the youngest in his family, and the first to go on a mission. We are getting along really well. My biggest worry was not training but who I would be training. Thankfully he's a good guy. President must have alot of trust in me to train a new elder. But so far so good. Tomorrow we will be able to have a full days work. I will be better in spanish because Elder Oliver likes to speak spanish more.
It's starting to get really warm and the snow is starting to melt. We ride our bikes during the day but at night when it freezes we can't because we slide on the ice. We have a few people that are looking good for January and last saturday Erick Castillo was baptized by Elder Jacobson. And then I confirmed him a member in sunday in sacrament. It was really cool to see someone like him progress. It will be cool to get a call from him in 5 years telling me where he is going on his mission. I'm looking forward for these next few weeks. We will have good times, and we will have success. Today we got to sleep in. I slept in till 7:00. I couldn't sleep in too much because my body is used to 6:30. Today is a P-day all day. We can also watch a move, we might watch Wall-e. But we still need to clean, do laundry, letter, and all that. But it will be a fun day. P-day will start to become regular and that will be good. Thank you for all you do.
Love Elder Garrett
