Dear Family,
This past week went by really fast but a lot of good things have happened. Thanksgiving day was kin of like a P-Day. We didn't have to go outside and work. But we ate dinner at the stake presidents house. Their was alot of people there, but enough food for people to have thirds. I ate alot because the food was really good. President Clark wanted us to visit a lot of members, less active, and investigators. So we went to an investigators house and his name is Willie. This guy is crazy. He has two kids, Charity who is 10 and just recently baptized, and a son who is 7. Willie smokes and drinks alot. His personality is still stuck in high school. But we went over because he invited us. He deep fried two turkeys so it was something we needed to try. We walked into his apartment and there on his couch was his brother "Uncle". Uncle is far from spiritual. He is into all sorts of bad stuff, but surprisingly he doesn't drink or smoke. Except two times a year. Thanksgiving and his birthday. So that morning he was drinking pure alcohol. So by the time we got there he was really sick. We tried the turkey talked to them for a bit then went on our way.
Warden is smaller than Quincy,we are doing both Spanish and English work. Yesterday we confirmed the three kids members it was cool and funny. First the kids fell asleep in sacrament. Then we had to drag them up to the front. Then all three of them had an attitude like they didn't want to be there. But each member of the presidency was going to do a kid each. But one didn't feel comfortable doing it so President Villareal asked me if I wanted to do it. So I confirmed Jose' Meding a member of the church. I did it in english so I could do it right. But I'll never forget how that sacrament went it was very good. Also yesterday we had a baptism. It was for the spanish branch. His name is Alex Lopez. He is 9 years old. His mom is a member and his older brother and sister. His mom is kind of active but more less active. She comes to church in spirts. She'll come for a month and then not come for the next. But she really wants her son to be baptized so that was good. We were supposed to have another baptism for Eric who is 14, but when he asked his mom she said no. She thinks he is to young to make that kind of decision. But she will let us come by and teach him. We hope his mom will change her mind by next year.
Elder Jacobson is from Utah. 30 minutes north of SLC. He's not fresh from the MTC he is one transfer less than me. Warden was his first area. We have a car but since Warden is so small we use bikes. We drive home because we live 15 miles out of town. And we are the only elders here so we don't share a car. We also do both english and spanish.
Sounds like the girls are having fun. I do miss playing with them. But time has gone by way fast and I know it still will. I can't wait till I can talk to you guys. Hopefully I will have some fresh success stories to tell.
Dad the other day I helped a member put up his christmas lights. It brought back a lot of good memories.
Well that's all for now.
Love ya, Elder Garrett
